Dear third graders,
As a high school student who has spent ten years in education as an elementary, middle, and high school student, I have experience. I want you to listen to my advice I have for you third graders because I have been in elementary school before so I know what it is like. My hope for you is to find more happiness in life. I want you to be optimistic about life. I hope you will try to look for happiness when something bad happens. I hope you grow up in a kind, loving and happy world in the future. I would like to give you the following advice: always try your best. I want you to know that life will be easier if you always try your best in anything in life. When I was your age, I wish someone told me to always try my best because school becomes more and more challenging, but you will have friends that will help you get through school. Pleases remember to always do your work. As you go on, school will give you more and more work, but if you stay on top of your work, it won’t be bad. You third graders should avoid being mean to people because you don’t know what that the other person been through. My final message for you is to be nice to other people.

Dear third grader,
As a high school junior at Kirtland Central who has been in school since I was five years old, I have learned that surrounding yourself with a learning environment will help you greatly! In middle school and high school adjusting is key because you have to realize that you have nine classes in middle school and eight in high school. Managing your time between those classes is important so you are caught up and passing all classes. I know you can do this!
My hope for you is to be successful and be a great person. My hopes will hopefully inspire you to think beyond and gain knowledge. I want you to accomplish finishing school and get a great paying job in your profession. I hope you have faith and god in your life. They both will let you know you can do it. The world you live in will be great because you will help it.
Advice I would give you is “the only person stopping you is you!” I want you to know that anything you put your mind to will be done in creative and extraordinary ways possible. Please do not let negative thoughts or actions get to you or hold you down. You got this. I wish someone told me that progress leads to results. This means to be good at something you need practice. During that process, you have to be patient and trust the system you build. The end results will come just be willing to give it your all.
Please remember you’re smart and valued. I want to warn you of bad distractions as you get older and meet new people. Avoid people who get you out of your comfort zone because you will create bad habits and sooner or later you will be making some bad decisions. Please remember to stay focused and keep your eye on success. No matter what people think or how tired you are work through and create a mentality of work.

Dear third graders,
As a high school student, I’ve had many good and bad moments, with even more experiences, learning from them, being hurt by them, and even taking them as blessings. I think 3rd graders should listen to my advice, because I think that it will help them be more prepared for whatever obstacle that may be in their way.
My hopes for the 3rd grader reading this gives 100% into everything that they do from the smallest things to the biggest. I hope that you accomplish any goal or dream you may have. My hopes for you is that you have happiness, love, support, and care in your life. I hope that you grow up in a world that is kind, supportive, exciting, and beautiful.
I would like to give you the following advice, be the best person you can possibly be! I want you to know that you have to work hard for what you want in life because not everything will be handed to you. I also want you to know that you must always do your homework and stay on top of your class work. I hope that you will strive for the best scholarships/schools.
I wish someone would’ve told me this when I was younger. I wish they would’ve told me to give 100% into everything I do, for me, my family, and the man above. Third graders, please remember that you are more powerful than you think you are. Some warnings I would like to give you is to make sure you have good friendships and not to fall into the wrong crowd.
Also, third graders, remember whatever you do whether if its good or bad, it will reflect back onto your parents. Make sure you avoid bad relationships, drugs, alcohol, etc. My final message for you is to always strive to be the best and to do your best.
Dear third grader,
As a high school senior, older sibling, and also a friend. My role in this world is to help better it. I would want all you younglings and foundlings to grow up in a better world than it is now. You should take my advice because for me and others, there are things we wish we could have done differently or sooner. it's not too late for you, it's never too late to do what I and we didn't do.
My hope for you is not to end up in a bad place or here, there are a lot more things out there than here. Take advantage of all the good opportunities you get. I want all of you to succeed, not just in school but in life as well. I hope you and others around you achieve what you want and the goals you’ve set up for yourselves in the near future. I want all of you not only to grow up in this world but to also better it for the next generations to come.
The advice I want to give to you is not to get too distracted. It isn't just going to be games, it's going to be friends, girls, and hobbies. Don't let that distract you from what you want.
There are a lot of things i wish i was told at your age and that nothing defines who you are, don't let the little things discourage you, this applies to everything you do or are told. If it works for you then do it, if it doesn't ask for help.
Please keep this in mind always, that things will get difficult, as you grow up things in life, school and anything will get difficult. You'll make mistakes, people will point them out but it's okay, it does not define what you do or how you do it. In life you will have to adapt and change to certain things and that's okay, change is good. It's okay to make mistakes, it'll build you up to be better.

Dear 3rd grader,
My roles in life are student, athlete, and brother. I have been going to school now for over 10 years. My grades have been good so far and I haven’t ever failed a class. I have had A’s and B’s through most of my education. As a brother I have two sisters and a brother, and they are some of my best friends.
My hope for you is that you will become the best person that you can be. I want you to do your best in the things that you like, but to do better in the things your parents and teachers tell you to do. I hope that you can make a happy life for yourself. My wish is that you will grow up in a world that makes you into a good and happy person.
My advice to you is to keep your head up! Even if you’re going through a hard time, the feeling won’t last forever. You can always find people, places, and things that make you happy. All you have to do is look in the right places.
Please remember to be yourself. You should never do something bad to make you look cool. I am warning you not to be with the wrong people. Influences are a very real thing. Be yourself, but more importantly, love yourself.

Dear third grader,
As a high school student my role in the world is to keep my focus on my education, and not let any distractions bring me down. I once was a third grader, and my friends and I never sat still in class, we always were walking around, and the principle would see us and we would hide in the bathroom stalls, which was not the right thing to do. Whenever I got caught doing something bad, the principle would call my dad and he would have to come and pick me up because my behavior at school was not accepted. Then whenever I got home my dad would tell me to do my chores, or otherwise he would give me a slap on my hand. The reason you need to listen to my advice is because whatever you do at school, your parents will find out, and you will end up just making your parents mad and frustrated.
My hope for you is you stay out of trouble. What I want you to accomplish is that you finish elementary. and go on to middle school. All you will need in life is your education, once you have that, then you can have anything in the world. Honestly the world now isn’t going to change, but for you it will. The way you see the world is up to you maybe all you want to see is happiness, and smiling. Then dream big, and your world will also be full of honesty, trust, and lots of respect which is a good thing, because then you will have a kind heart. A kind heart is being nice, and saying nice words to each other.
I would like to give you the following advice about bullies, bullies now can be scary and mean. Bullies are all around us, and they may seem scary, but don’t be afraid, you have your teachers, principals, security guards, school counselor, but most importantly you have your parents. All of these adults are there for your safety. I wish someone would have told me how not to be scared of a bully, when I was younger bullies were all I saw every day, but now I just ignore them, and go about my day.
Please remember, stay in school no matter what. My warnings are just make sure you don’t get into stranger’s vehicles, and never follow a stranger when they tell you they have candy. My final message to you is don’t listen to strangers, avoid walking home by yourself, also don’t go wandering off without adult supervision. Last but not least PLEASE!!!!!!!!! Follow directions!!!! This step is very important to me, because following directions means you listen to your teachers when they give you directions, and don’t disobey your teacher because they care about you, and only want the best for you. It is important because it could be a real-life situation, and when you don’t pay attention than others may get hurt, that’s why you don’t run around while a fire alarm is going off, its to protect you and other classmates. All you have to do is remain calm and stay in a single file line.
Dear Third Grader,
My role in this world high school student soon to graduate from Shiprock High School. Another role of mine is an older sibling which I find to be the hardest role I have, reason being is that I am the oldest out of five which I with hold a great deal of responsibility within this role. I believe that you should listen what I have to say because I have been going to school for about 11 years so I have tips to give you to get you through high school. Lastly, if helping my mom raise my little brothers taught me is discipline, organization, and dedication.
My hope for you is to go to college and help your community. I hope for you as a third grader that you have big dreams and hope to pursue those dreams. I hope you achieve graduating from high school and go to college to become the best you possible. As you get older I hope you have respect for others and yourself. Moreover, gain the knowledge to pursue the dreams that you set yourself to achieve. The world, I hope that you grow up in is a world that pushes you to be the best you possible.
I would like to give you the following advice which is to pay attention in class, do your work/homework, and to stay away from negative things like drugs and people who are bad influences to you. As a high school student, I can tell you to pay attention no matter how boring it may be. Also, ask questions when you don’t understand something and be respectful to others. One main thing I would like to tell you about high school is that the classes get harder and so does the homework so please pay attention during class. Also, you don’t stay in one class all day you switch classes usually between 7 classes. Lastly, lunches are shorter and are way more crowded.
Please remember that you will have a lot more homework which I encourage you to make friends or be in group which they can help you. One more thing I’d like to remind you to keep away from during high school is drugs. Also, try to be in class on time so you can get a head start on things. Lastly, use all of your available resources to get through high school or get ahead start on college.
P.S. DON’T LET OTHERS SET YOUR STANDARDS AND DEFINE WHO YOU CAN BECOME IN THIS WORLD!
Sincerely, Rafeal Grey
Feb. 03, 2020
Dear Third Grade Student,
As a 17-year-old Junior at Kirtland Central High School, my role in this world is a student athlete. Notice how “student” is in front of “athlete.” This means that schooling comes first and sports come second. I am a tri-sport athlete, meaning I play three sports. Those sports include soccer, wrestling, and track and field. I have been in school for 11 years and you should take my advice because I am very well experienced in schooling and life. My hope for you is that you follow what you want. Don’t let anyone in your life interfere with what you want. I hope that you live a very good life with great schooling and great teachers. I hope you graduate high school and go on to be whatever you want! I would like to give you the following advice: Stay on top of your grades in school. If you are an athlete like me, schooling will be hard because you will need to catch up on missing work because you had to compete that day. Get your work before you leave to compete. Trust me this is a life saver. But the main thing I am trying to say is stay on top of your grades and assignments. Once you get behind in a class, it is very hard to get caught back up. I wish someone would have given me this advice when I was in third grade. So, I am giving it to you so I can help someone out! Please remember to have fun while you’re young! If you don’t have fun while you’re young, you will regret it once you get older. All the memories will stay with you and your friends. Make as many friends as you can and keep them as you get older. Just have fun!!!
Dear third grader,
As an older sibling, I would give you some advice in order to be a successful student throughout the year. The experiences I have faced in my own life are learning to practice guitar and focusing on my GPA and my test scores with my teachers.
My hope for you is give the other students curricular skills. I also wanted to help you accomplish getting into the next level and grade level. I think of you as a great student, and I know you can be successful in each class level and move on to high school. I hope you grow up in a new world with a many job skills and college success skills.
The following advice I will give you is: help people to communicate. I hope you have the job skills in order to get a career. I wish you good luck on going into high school, a good life, and whether you’re in sports or not.
Please remember, always give other students advice. The warnings you need to do are listen, respect, and follow directions from your teachers or parents. I hope you have a good day, and please understand yourself. Understand how your life is and how you are feeling. I hope you have a blessed day.
Dear third grader,
I’m a sixteen-year-old student in an early college academy and I’ve been in chess for three years. I’ve seen things and I’m writing this to tell you about what’s going to lie ahead. My hope for you is that you will be able to make it in school, and be able to move after you finish school. I know you get that last part a lot, but this time it’s from a high schooler. I would also like to give you the following advice: work hard so that it will be easy for you in the long run (what I mean by that is that you will have stuff you want.) I would like you to know that you need to focus on school, especially when you get to high school, where there will be a lot of work you need to stay on top of. One thing I wish someone would have told me is that high school is going to be weird because there are a lot of groups to join. Please remember that school comes before anything else. This is important, especially since I’m a student athlete. My final message for you is that you should have fun in high school, join a club, watch a game, or get involved, while you have the chance because it’s going to go by fast.
The new media students were asked to write about a sport or activity. They interviewed people and published their findings.

Topic: Skateboarding in Shiprock, New Mexico
Jalen Jones, Kiara Attcity, Matthew Hayes, three of the many skateboarders of Shiprock New Mexico, were asked for an interview on skateboarding. They shared their own experiences as well as responses to questions on the action sport.
Not only is skateboarding a way of transportation in Shiprock, but it is also a hobby, a way to stay active, and is also the stairs to success for some individuals.
Jalen Jones (pictured above), a Shiprock High School student, as well as one of the local skateboarders, is always active. Although skateboarding is one of the many ways that keep him active, he also enjoys soccer, hacky sack, basketball, and running.
“My older brother introduced skateboarding to me, he was really good and possibly the best in Shiprock.” “I also use it for transportation.” After the influence of his older brother rubbed onto Jalen, he then continued to skateboard but with his own friends. He explains
that it has also impacted his life in many ways.
Matthew Hayes (pictured on the left), a 2019 Shiprock High School graduate, and a local skateboarder says, “I wasn’t really into friends or had any type of relationship with anyone outside my family.” He explains how impressing his cousins was something he wanted to do as well. “My cousins would skate and learn tricks daily while I watched. So I started skating to give me something to look forward to each day. It made me smile more.”
Kiara Attcity (pictured on the right), a Career Prep student and local skateboarder, got her interest in skateboarding from her significant other. “I started last year in October,” since then it’s been 2 years when she started skateboarding.
What has skateboarding taught you?
“skateboarding has taught me a lot form balancing, patience, footwork, and determination to creativity. SKateboarding is very unique compared to any sports, it”s also very risky.” says Jalen.
“Skateboarding has taught me how to endure pain. It also taught me how to keep myself content and consistent. Now I progress daily. It’s different when I’m taking risks, boosts my self-esteem.” says Matthew.
Do you think it’s reasonable to put a skatepark in Shiprock?
“Well yeah I believe that it is completely reasonable to assemble a park because there are many skaters in Shiprock such as myself, who wants to push the limit with becoming better and other places such as Chinle, Cortez, and I think Window Rock have their own skateparks,” says Jalen.
“It’s very reasonable to build a skatepark in Shiprock,” says Matthew. “It gives a place to skate. Trespassing and the destruction of property are some of the charges I could’ve been put through. Being a skater gives you a creative mindset so it would be really cool to see rez kids at a skatepark. If you were at a street spot skating and you bust your melon, no one would notice or do anything, but if you were at a skatepark, someone would definitely act quick to save a life. The amount of money that the Navajo Nation can bring together can be definitely more than enough.”
“Yes, there are skaters in Shiprock and upcoming youth,” says Kiara.
How can Skateboarding play a part in your future?
“Well it’s already like transportation, but I don’t think I’ll be skating forever,” says Jalen.
“It involves patience, determination, and having fun,” says Kiara.
At the end of the day, we should know that all sports have an impact personally, physically, mentally, it can affect communities, it can start careers, and it can bring people together. Skateboarding in Shiprock seems unwanted in Shiprock but should be accepted because it is a way to promote a healthy lifestyle, and bring communities together.

Kirtland Central Boys Soccer
The Kirtland Central Boys Soccer team is an intimidating team with many players who have love for the game soccer. This team truly is tough by leaving all other teams in the dust with an 17-3 overall. The only thing on these players mind is soccer and getting to state in 2019. This team has a big shot at getting to state because of their love, skill, and teamwork both on and off the field.
2018 a sad year for the Bronco Boys soccer team. This was the year that hurt the Boys. A year when the Aztec Tigers stole the spot in state away from the Bronco Boys team. After that dreadful year the Bronco’s worked twice as hard to get revenge and take the spot in state. These boys caught a whiff of state, and now they’re hungry, and they won’t let anybody stop them from getting to state.
Kyler Joe, a varsity starter on the boys’ soccer team said, “It is mainly our teamwork that’s why we are doing good.” He agrees that what makes the Bronco Boys soccer team good is their teamwork. The way this team passes the ball around until they find an opening to shoot and score truly is a work of art.
With their 17-3 overall and becoming district champions this team will surely secure a spot in state where they will prove their skills. The boys will now have to work three times as hard to go farther in state and end up as state champion. They have the heart and strength to do the work that they need to do in order to become state champion.

Topic: Chieftain Pride Club
Adam Pettigrew started the Chieftain Pride Club two years ago, hoping to create a safe and equal environment for the LGBTQ youth in both the school and community. Misty Sandoval is the current president of the LGBTQ club. She is a senior at Shiprock High School. Misty is 18 years old. She loves cats and her favorite type of music is rock. She identifies with the LGBTQ community as bisexual and is currently in a relationship of a year and eight months with her girlfriend. The vice president of the club is Hannah Norberto. She is also a senior at Shiprock High School. She is 17 years old. Hannah loves cats as well. Staying home, hanging out with her family is another pastime Hannah enjoys. She also plays the saxophone in her spare time.
Misty Sandoval (pictured above), the current president of the LGBTQ stated, “I didn’t necessarily apply for the position it was passed down to me by former club president Adam Pettigrew, and so with that happening to me I took this into motive to help the club in any way I can.”
Hannah Norberto, the vice president of the club also said, “I applied for the position in this club because I thought it would be helpful for the kids in the school, because being in the LGBTQ club is a sensitive thing, due to the all the judgements. There is also the issue in the school district about being bullied or harassed for identifying as part of the LGBTQ community and I hoped I could be a role model for the kids who are in that position.”
Both individuals decided to join this club for many reasons. They hoped to achieve to make their school a better environment for the LGBTQ youth. They also wanted to be role models for individuals and help solve and create solutions for the LGBTQ issues in the school system. “I decided that I might as well put myself out there and be myself to help put my beliefs out there.” Sandoval said.
“We offer our club as a safe zone for everyone when they are in need, we provide them comfort and assistance to show them it’s okay to be yourself, especially in certain situations where it may be difficult for them.” Mistry explained.
“We had a Socratic seminar last year on issues of coming out, we discussed how we identify with the Kirtland’s LGBTQ club as well. We discussed if we have ever been discriminated against. Ms. Evans the club sponsor, allows us to meet in her classroom every Tuesday, and we discuss problems. She has speakers come in and talk to us, like other Navajo individuals that identify as apart of the LGBTQ community, that talk about their experiences.” Hannah added.
The club helps with other issues as well. For one they are trying to help with some of the environmental issues in the school and community. They are wanting to change the school’s water system. This could help bring more fresh and ecofriendly water for the students. The club also discussed the possibility of opening a recycling center in the community. They discuss many problems that range from the enenvironment problems to the social.
Hannah and Misty agreed that their club’s biggest accomplishment happened over the summer at the first annual Dine Pride event, where they received the award. Both hope that the club as a whole will put themselves out there more and be able to become more well known. They also want to help make the school and community safe zones for the LGBTQ community.

OPINIONS ON SENATE AND COUNCIL
By Elora John
Demetrius Simpson is in student senate at Bond Wilson. For fun Demetris likes to participate in other clubs, sports, and volunteer work. He likes to be because it is fun and allows him to be involved in making small differences in his community, which he finds really important. He is “just a member,” in senate, but is also the vice president for the junior class at KCHS. He is a very kind, helpful, and friendly; overall, he is just a really good person. He always tries and does it with a smile on his face.
Illiana is in a similar club, student council at the high school. For fun Illiana likes to spend time with family and friends. She is the freshman class president and likes to help others. She is truthful and says what is on her mind, like if any of her classmate isn’t participating or not paying attention, she tells them to get back on track.
“Student Senate is very cool and I appreciate it so much,” says Demetrius “my community is so important and I want to change stuff that others can't. People depend on me in speaking my voice.” This is one of the main goals of senate, you are the voice and you are the difference. You can make changes as long as you speak up. “I feel like I'm doing what a member does and participate”
“I have a lot of responsibility,” said Illiana, “my overall opinion on student council is that I honestly really like it I just wish the upperclassman would involve us freshman more.” Illiana explains that the upper classes, such as seniors and some juniors, don’t think highly of the lower classes especially freshman. But she enjoys what she does such as she mentioned “I have to do everything for my class and I also help set up meetings if we need it”
Demetrius and Illiana both have one quote in common “fun” they both mention that their clubs are fun that’s why they enjoy it. They both talk about mostly the positive stuff and the little tasks they have to do. They would most likely encourage others to join as well.

The KCHS volleyball team this year consist mainly of seniors. Arianna Lee and Gabrianna White-David (Gabby), two crowd pleasing stars on the court, plan to take charge on their performances as athletes for their last season of high school volleyball. They hope to fight onto state.
After playing all four years of high school on the varsity volleyball team there must be something special about this year? This year’s team appears more bonded together. Their friendships allow them to ignite a hunger for the win.
Team captain Gabrianna White-David said “being a better captain by picking up team mates emotionally.”
According to Gabby, she believes that she must encourage and support her team in order arrive at state. Connecting as one team will help the girls play together on the court.
Arianna Lee, a senior on the KCHS volleyball team said, “we just need to keep working together and find that rhythm within ourselves, individually, and together.”
The team transform from working alone to working together, making them unstoppable.
Although working as a team is an important factor when playing volleyball, each player still needs to prepare mentally on their own.
“I prepare for a game by getting my mindset ready basically telling myself that this is a game and if you want to win it you have to work as hard as possible and you have to give it your all…” said Arianna Lee.
Arianna encourages herself by tell herself that giving her all is going to have a positive impact on the court when she is playing.
Gabby said, “listen to music, eat, and create a positive mindset.”
For Gabby she prepares physically and mentally before a game. Listening to music hypes her up, making her energetic on the court.
Both Gabby and Arianna are taking on their responsibilities as KCHS volleyball players for their journey to state. They want to make the most of their time on the team as seniors. Not only are they improving who they are as athletes but who they are as teammates. They love their team as friends and as sisters.

THE KCHS BRONCOS
By Matthias Ayze
Kragen Cadman, a player for KCHS’s football team answered questions about Kirtland Central High School’s football team or the “Broncos”, their performance for the 2019-2020 fall season of football and what causes them to perform like they do in games.
“I think he’s a good coach who wants committed athletes,” Kragen Cadman said when asked about what he thought of the coach. Kragen Cadman answered questions about the football team and the coach of the Varsity football teams.
The 2019-2020 season for football started but hasn’t been so encouraging for the Broncos, but is now getting better and hopeful for KCHS. Now with a record of 3-3 for their season. The Broncos need to have to come up with a strategy and improve their defense if they ever want to get another championship.
The Broncos last championships were 46 years ago, only winning 4 in the years 1963, 1964, 1969, 1973.
“He pushes us, testes us, and teaches us during practice and on the field,” Kragen said about the coach.
What’s next for the Kirtland Central Broncos? No one knows, but we do know one thing. The Broncos have 2 things that every football team or any sports team should have and that is, Hope and optimism.

BOND WILSON STUDENT SENATE
By Nyla Beach
Interviewees: Elora John (Treasurer)\ Ms. Talk (Sponsor)
“Collected student voice for Bond Wilson”, Ms. Talk said in a determine voice. Student Senate wants students to have a voice and point of view. To engage fellow students to promote Bond Wilson more and to extend the student voice for the future. To also advise student’s opinion, of future industry partner meeting.
“Student voice" a major factor for this semester of student senate. Student senate is empowering many students about school spirit. That will spark a major surge in student to amplify their “voice".
Ms. Talk, the sponsor of Bond Wilson student senate, wants to have students with a collected voice for Bond Wilson. So, industry partner meeting wouldn’t just have a bunch of adults, but to also represent with the student voice.
Ms. Talk directed a major factor of student senate, “student voice “. To have a student voice in major industry partner meeting like with APS, HP, Raytheon, or Navajo Tech. So, student can report ideas or problems they have in the meeting. They can engage and amplify their “student voice".
Elora John, treasurer for student senate said, "I do think student senate will benefit Bond Wilson. So people can have better understanding of Bond Wilson and student senate.”
Elora provided her opinion of student senate being beneficial for the Bond Wilson’s community and boost a better understanding of the Bond Wilson’s student senate later on in the article.
Student senate is a major power to amplify the “student voice". To extend a major burst of future leader. But to also encourage school spirit, but that is what they hope for because there’s a major unbalanced between students from school.
But in Ms. Talk interview, her opinion and point of view of the school spirit seem to be rather strain.
“I think it will in the most part, so this semester the majority of the kids are from KCHS and one from Shiprock”, said Ms. Talk. “Hoping next semester, it will even out and it will promote Bond Wilson more.”
Ms. Talk advise more Shiprock students to join student senate because this will help influence more school spirit and intensify “student voice” more. Also, it will intertwine schools together and get a better view of the future.
Benefit of Bond Wilson is a big factor for student senate and even Ms. Talk think so.
“Yes, I think it will”, said Ms. Talk eagerly. “Just because it gives us that student voice to have funding issue, we will have that student voice to help.”
“Student voice” is a major factor for Bond Wilson. Not only does it help give a student opinion, but it gives a benefit to each student and Bond Wilson. It gives the student an experience of meeting, planning, and leadership. It promotes Bond Wilson more to each school’s community by intertwining each community to work together.
I want to encourage people to join student senate because its student senate helps share ideas, interests, and concerns with teachers and future industry partner meeting. It often also helps raises funds for school-wide activities, including social events, community projects, helping people in need and school reform. To also help in future in food drives, fundraisers and parties.

Restaurant: Mikasa Japanese Cuisine
Mikasa Japanese Cuisine is located on Main Street in Farmington, NM, and the prices of the food are not too expensive. It is a Japanese sit-down restaurant, that also includes takeout. They serve many different dishes, such as salad, sushi, rice, lo mien, and so much more.
The atmosphere and service are great and very family friendly. The scenery is very beautiful with a bright green wall, sushi bar, and quite a few Japanese style decorations. The staff members appear to be nice. They create small conversations with customers to put a smile on their faces. The staff members continue to be helpful, by always looking around and attending to customers when needed in a peppy manner. The people who dine here are mostly families, as well as an extended variety of different ages.
The experience of the food was even better. The soup is something that comes for free if you have a sushi or Asian special. They offer different types of soups, but the egg drop soup is a must. The soup is yellow with little hints of orange, green, and beige shapes that turn out to be the cubed carrots, sphere-shaped peas, and egg flakes. These ingredients are soft and smoosh in your mouth. It tastes really good with the smooth, not too thick consistency, and is a nice hot temperature. The smell of this was exactly the way it tasted. The sesame chicken with fried rice and an egg roll, is a go-to Japanese meal (that also includes the free soup). Not only is it simple, but it also tastes really flavorful. The rice is a light brown color, with small specks of fried eggs, and little amounts of white globs of rice, as if the rice stuck together before being fried then fell apart after. The taste was nice and moist on the inside and had a good type of dry texture on the outer side. It had a rather interesting smell of sweet popcorn. The sesame chicken is the best part. It has a slimy brown look with sesame seeds. It had layers of flavor; the outside had a sweet tangy flavor, with a crispy crunchy middle crust, and the chicken was soft and juicy. Bringing everything together, the smell was sweet but also sour and savory. Last but not least the egg roll. It didn’t taste as great as the others; it looked soft and toasty, but ended up being too crunchy and crumbly. The inside was colorful from varieties of vegetables, but had no flavor or smell.
All in all, the food and service were pretty great. I would give the restaurant a 10 out of 10. The one egg roll left a small impression, but I would definitely give it another try, and would go back for the other food 100%.

Restaurant: Tomo Japanese Steakhouse
Tomo Japanese Steakhouse is a restaurant that is located on East Main St in Farmington, NM. It is home to many flavorful Japanese cuisines, like sushi and other dishes that may be served with fried rice and noodles at a fairly expensive price. Tomo’s environment is a safe, family friendly place to eat. The restaurant is divided into two, creating a lounge for just adults and the other side for families.
When you first walk in you notice that the lights are dimmed low. There are a few LED water walls, that are acting as dividers to give customers privacy. Unique and beautiful art pieces are placed inside built in shelves, in the back. The stove tops placed through out the restaurant are clean and sanitized, as well as the dining tables. The waiter seemed to appear tired, after a long day of work. Since it was almost closing time, the waiter seemed irritated about how late my family and I arrived. Although the waiter was showing attitude, my unsatisfying welcome was made up for by the chef. He made us laugh while he was cooking, and before leaving he made sure that we were satisfied with our food before cleaning up.
After shortly waiting for my food to arrive, you could smell the scent of as if you were fishing. Then the chef brought out a rectangular plate with a small flower painted on the side, along with five large pieces of Angel Roll sushi. You first notice that there are two different sauces drizzled on top. One is a deep dark brown color and the other is a soft light-yellow. Beneath the sauces there was shredded crab laying on the sushi. Then of course you see the spicy tuna rolled into a layer of sushi rice. The deep brown sauce had a spicy kick and the light-yellow sauce had a semi sweet taste. The main part of the sushi tasted fishy and light. When taking a bite of the sushi you could feel the different texture combining in your mouth to make the dish flavorful. The textures included a crunchiness, sliminess, solidness, and a softness. It took a moment for my taste buds to get used to the variety of textures occurring in my mouth, but it was tasty.
Overall, I had a pleasant experience dining at Tomo Japanese Steakhouse. The restaurant was pleasing to the eye. The service received from the waiters started out rocky, but ended in a wonderful time. The food had many different flavors that you could actually taste. So, with that I rate Tomo Japanese Steakhouse 4.5 stars out of 5.

Chili’s is a fairly good size restaurant in Farmington, NM. They serve a variety of foods that range from steaks, burgers, salads, and even pasta. Chili’s is a sit-down restaurant with a bar and lounge in the middle with booths for big families or small ones.
The average price for the food is about $12.00. The restaurant's atmosphere is not very loud, but just a lot of conversations going on in the background. It can get packed around 12pm on Fridays and Saturdays. The restaurant smells like burgers and steaks when you walk in. The Chili’s staff were nice and seemed rather friendly to the customers, even when being so busy with other tables. You sometimes have to wait a little longer for your ticket to be payed for.
Chili’s has many dishes and appetizers to try. The Just Bacon Burger is a burger that has bacon under the top of the bun, sitting at the top of the beef patty. The burger has melted cheese beneath the patty. You can add ketchup, pickles, or whatever you like in your burger. The beef patty is just a little bit bigger than the burger buns itself. The taste of the burger was outstanding and incredibly juicy, with lots of flavor from the bacon and cheese. The burger smelled a lot like bacon, and was greasy. Every bite taken from the burger was filled with flavors.
Chili’s is a great place to eat for anyone, with friendly but busy waiters and service. The food is worth what you pay for, but you’ll have to check your food once you get it. My rating for Chili’s is 3 stars out of 5.

There is no place like home. From the home to the kitchen, there are many reasons why we all like home cooked meals. Like my experience of home cooked meals, it was nice and amazing. With your family right by your side, you get a feeling of home. The service was nice and friendly with your sibling right by your side. I experienced a home cooked meal with a highly expensive side of food materials and a pretty good home cooked meal of Alfredo pasta.
A home cooked meal is one of many things that my family enjoys doing together, from many football games to the never ending cycle of choosing a movie to watch as a family. We love to cook a home dinner of our liking. Home meals are considered a family group activity. The experience is light and comforting. We feel right at home and smell like a high class restaurant, with the sound of the movie, Ratatouille, with the hint of Fortnite in the background. Then the service was nice and comforting, with a family friendly vibe and not too busy like a restaurant.
The most important part is the dish. It was a Chicken Alfredo pasta. It was amazing, a fresh home cooked meal with a hint of love. The sauce was nice and rich with creamy Alfredo, with a balance of salt and black pepper to make the sauce a sweet and tasty flavor. The main and expensive part of the dish was the noodle. They were fresh and dried with a hint of a firm taste. Which was the hardest ingredient to cook out of the dish. Next is the chicken, which had exceptional tenderness and flavor. With a nicely appealing kind of taste and smelling of a highly standard restaurant of rich ingredients.
In conclusion, there’s, nothing like a home cooked meal. They are the only meal that you will love. My home cooked meal experience was pretty good and tasty Alfredo pasta. The only con is how expensive it is to buy the ingredients. But my rating for this home cook meal is 4 stars out of a 5-star rating.

Restaurant: Lindo Mexico
Lindo Mexico is a Mexican style restaurant located in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The food there is wonderful and out of this world, though slightly expensive. It ranges from traditional Mexican dishes to your average steak and lobster.
The establishment is fairly large, in the middle sat a large marble fountain which was mainly the first thing you would lay your eyes on. The skylight right above made it look holy and divine. Surrounding it were comfortable wooden tables and seats. Surrounding the seats were booths which were on a higher deck than the seats below. A bar in the very back sat collecting dust as no one really sat there. Walls were littered with beautiful pieces of art and TV’s. The staff their adorned cultural attire, they were friendly and helpful. It does get packed around twelve though the staff keep their cool from what I have seen. The place felt cozy and had a fuzzy warm feeling know that everyone was having a good time eating great food, it is one of the finer establishments that I have visited.
One of my favorites and a family favorite, ribeye steak and a lobster tail sided with a loaded baked potato. All of the talking and Mexican music dim once I lay eyes on the waitress carrying my food whose eyes lock to mine, they gently placed my plate on the available space. It’s buttery glaze, one of God’s best creatures, the lobster and its tail. The vague and mysterious fish smell mixed in with the perfectly cooked rib eye topped with the sour cream from the baked potato put a tear to my eye. The lobster tail drowned in butter with a smidge of salt melted in my mouth, upon impact as I slowly crunched down to eat it, it exploded like a tomato revealing its tender insides, truly remarkable. I wash it down with a glass of lemon water then I try a bit of the rib eye. The knife sliced into the beast with ease, I grabbed the bottle of A1 sauce and like the lobster drowned it in the sauce too. Upon eating it, the smell of the sauce stung my nose, the meat still steamed hot I was going to love this. I ate and chewed the softest and most delicious steak I had ever eaten, it was a master piece and an astonishing meal. I then mixed the potato with the bacon bits, the butter, and the sour cream. Pour a small amount of salt and ate it like it was cereal. The potato had a mushy texture, the bacon bits gave it more mass. The butter and sour cream were like peanut butter and jelly, you must have them both if you want to enjoy your meal. Honestly my favorite restaurant that I have eaten at.
Lindo Mexico has the same cozy and warm feeling compared to a stormy winter night where you are snuggled up next to a campfire drinking hot chocolate. The people who work there are quick on there feet yet very chill and relaxed. The fountain in the middle surrounded by seats and the artwork everywhere makes this place stand out. The food is great but it is a little damaging to the wallet.

Burger King is a fast food restaurant that has many different locations, but the burger king I went to was near sonic and is located in Farmington. Burger King is a restaurant that mainly serves burgers, but they also have some breakfast items, desserts, and they also serve chicken sandwiches. Burger King is also fairly cheap with having many meals under $10.
The restaurant is very open so you had a lot of room that you could walk through. They have many tables and chairs so you can sit in the restaurant and they have a booth that you can sit at to eat and enjoy your food while being comfortable and a TV is also provided here so you can have some entertainment while you are eating your food. Burger King also has a kid’s playground where your children can go and play, so you can eat your food in peace. Many families can be seen in this restaurant because of the playground that they provide. The service at this restaurant is pretty good because the staff enjoy to work there and you can expect your food to be made quickly so you won’t have to wait for a while.
Burger king has a wide selection of burgers, but they are mostly known for their Whopper burger. As soon as I unraveled the burger all I could smell was the patty that was on it, the smell of beef was good. The burger was a pretty good size with having only tomato, lettuce, onions, a patty, and some sauces. When I sank my teeth into the burger the taste of the sauces mixed with the patty is what had me wanting more. The fries that came with the meal was perfect, the golden color it had, the smell of potatoes, and the crunch that came with each bite was so good.
Overall my experience at this restaurant was very pleasing and good. The staff was friendly and the food was good especially since most of the meals are under $10. I would give this restaurant a 4 out of 5 stars.

McDonald’s is a major fast food restaurant that is all over the world today. The location varies from different places such as small towns or big cities. The one I visited was in the community of Shiprock, New Mexico. McDonald’s serves mainly American food, which ranges from burgers and fries to salads with chicken, for an inexpensive price.
Customers can take their food on the go with drive-thru, or they can have a comfortable dining experience inside the restaurant. The restaurant has many tables and booths for a more comfortable and spacious experience. In the back left there is a playground for families and children to have a fun time, while they are dining. The employees are always so amazingly friendly and helpful. They always have a smile and try their best to make sure people have a good dining experience. The entire restaurant is appealing to the eye and gives a more joyful and fun time. It is brightly lit with a nice warm feeling of happiness. Families, friends, and even people traveling through town come here for a wonderful meal and delightful experience.
McDonald’s is home to the famous Big Mac. However, I did not order the Big Mac but instead the chicken nuggets. I ordered the medium combo so it came with fries and a drink, but instead of a drink I got it with a delicious strawberry shake. The chicken nuggets were nice and golden brown. They were okay, kind of burnt and stale, but the buffalo sauce masked this. They smelt like chicken which really made the nuggets appealing to me. The nuggets looked so appetizing. They were cooked good to a nice color of that beautiful golden brown. It came with a fresh batch of fries. The fries were very fresh and still hot. It tasted so delicious and had just the right amount of salt. The fries were fully cooked to a golden brown with not a soggy fry in sight. The shake was so creamy. It was a nice light pink color with a swirl of whip cream on top. It tasted like strawberry ice cream with a nice creamy vanilla taste added. The shake was cold, which really helped to intensify the flavoring and overall taste and appearance of it. Altogether my meal was well made and it was a very good experience. The appearance of the food was appealing which made it appetizing. I would recommend trying the nuggets, but maybe try different variations of sauce to find the right one for you. The cherry on top of my experience was the shake, because I was not expecting the ice cream machine to be working, which I would most definitely recommend.
My dining experience overall at McDonalds’s was good. The food was delicious and filling. I would recommend eating here for a pleasurable experience and some friendly staff. Altogether I would give this McDonald’s a 4 out of 5 stars. The one star being that the restaurant could work trying to improve their quality of their food and restaurant. It wasn’t really bad though, it was just a few minor flaws that can be worked on, but overall, I would say my experience was good.

Restaurant: Burger King
Rating: 4 out of 10 Burgers
Burger King is a fast food restaurant, and is the second largest fast food chain in the world. The location that I chose was in the small town of Shiprock, New Mexico. Burger King is popular for their classic whoppers and fries. Some food items range from $1-$10 depending on what you choose.
While visiting Burger King, customers can either stay and dine in, or simply go through the drive thru. When entering the restaurant, it seemed crowded, hot, and somewhat unclean as well. The atmosphere was dark, and almost gloomy because a light was not working in the dining area. This restaurant is popular with families, as well as many age ranges, from children to elders. The staff when I went there were not that friendly, and showed little emotion, as if they were stressed.
The most popular thing at Burger King is the original whopper, it’s a regular hamburger with their crispy fires, and a drink of your choice.
While waiting for the Impossible burger I ordered, and sat at a table by the soda machines. I could hear children playing in the playground, fries being fried, and customers giving their food order. The smell of the place was limited and overtaken by their burgers being cooked. After 10 minutes of waiting, I decided to go up to the cash register and ask if they had my food ready. They gave me a shocked expression and told me that there was a mistake and they hadn’t made my food yet. After 10 more minutes of waiting for my food, I finally received it, and sat down to eat. When I opened up my burger, it looked dense, with the thick patty, the crunchy lettuce, and dripping ketchup. The fries were freshly made, so when I took a bite, it was hot, crunchy, salty, and soft all at the same time. The impossible burger is also new on the menu. It is a burger with 0% beef, and surprisingly it tasted just like the whopper they serve! The burger itself, was soft, had a grill taste to it, and made me feel like I was at a cookout. When ordering the burger, I recommend taking the sauces out, and the tomatoes, because after a while the bun and patty got soggy from the liquids. I also got a medium Coca Cola to go with my meal. When getting my drink, the ice in the machine got stuck. When I tried the other side nothing came out. I had to use a straw and unclog the ice machine myself. Other than that, the drink was crispy, cold, and sweet.
Burger king has amazing food, has choices for everyone. Looking at the online reviews before going to the place you’re visiting will give you better service, or different location choice. After my experience at this Burger King location, I give it a 4 out of 10 burgers. The service, and atmosphere it self wasn’t not appealing, but the food was amazing.

KFC is a well-known fast food restaurant located in Kirtland. The place had a pleasant smell of warm cooked chicken which made the experience even better. The menu is full of classic KFC meals that you can get for a good price that the staff delivers fast and fresh.
As I went into the restaurant, I could see many generations of age groups there. I saw teens getting something quick to eat, family’s eating their meals, and an elderly couple sitting and enjoying their food. I can sit and wait at an open table to wait for my meal, which would not take long for the staff to prepare. The view is nice, with a good lighted place to eat when the sun is out and shining upon the inside of the restaurant, with three huge windows. It is pretty loud when the place is packed, but also very quiet around the morning to evening with a few people there. It’s a nice and quiet room where you can enjoy your meal to the sound of the radio. The friendly staff ensure that you have a smile when entering and exiting the building. As you leave, the staff see you off saying “Have a nice day and come back soon.” Even if they are full and busy.
When I went in to order, a grand smell of chicken fills my nose, knowing it is fresh and ready to be eaten. As I walked up to the counter a voice grasps my attention. “Hello Sir will this be for here or to go?”, “For here” I said. She looked ready to take my order giving me her full attention. It was a sight for sore eyes. As the order quickly concluded, she looked at me with a big smile as I gave her my money. She said “Thank you, your order with be right out.”. I took a seat and heard the radio playing and, in the background, I heard them making the food. It wasn’t really packed as it was pretty early into the day. I ordered one chicken breast original and a pot pie with a side of popcorn chicken. I felt excruciatingly hungry that day so I was eager to receive my food. Not more than two minutes passed that I heard them say my order number. As eager as a dog seeing it’s master return from work I rushed up and collected my food. “Here you go sir, will that be it? Do you need anything else?”, “No” I said.
Upon arriving to my seat, the wonderful smell of the chicken pot pie was enticing. The look of the chicken made me feel fuzzy like I was dreaming. The smell reminded me of heaven, I began to drool a little. As I took the first bite, I was welcomed with a juicy and crunchy taste of the seasoned chicken breast. I opened my spork that was given to me and began to dig into the pot pie. The sight of the crispy top layer mixing with the creaming filling gave me butterflies. The smell and taste was almost as good as grandma’s delicious pies. The last was the popcorn chicken, It was a small sphere shape and a good-sized piece that you can enjoy as a snack. The taste was almost the same as the chicken but it had more seven blend seasoning than the chicken, an astonishing meal.
Over all, the staff was friendly and the food came out fast and fresh. The smell was wonderful and the food was a master piece of taste deliciousness. I would give the restaurant 4.5 out of 5 because the tables were nice and clean, but the floors were not so much. I could see the crumbs of other's past meals on the ground when I was sitting down, to enjoy my meal. Other than that, KFC is a fine establishment with great food.
High school Advice:
Letters to Nizhoni
The new media students have given their own opinion and experiences on school, mainly what they wish they knew at a younger age. They have written their advice in letters to give to third grade students at Nizhoni Elementary. You too can read these helpful letters. They are not necessarily just for the younger generation; they honestly give great advice for any student.
Here are the letters:
Dear third grader,
As a 16-year-old junior in high school, I’ve experienced most of high school as well as a small bit of my life. My hope for you is that you go through school and finish it completely then go to college. Finishing school will help you out a lot in the future and help you complete other life goals. I would like to give you the following advice: Take all the opportunities that are given to you. In life many opportunities will be given to you that you should take. Any good opportunity that is given to you, you should take advantage of them because later in life they will help you out. Recently I’ve been given the opportunity to go and learn more about college and I took advantage of that opportunity and now I know more about college. Please remember that hard work can get you far in life. Working hard in school and in any other activities that are important to you will take you far. Working hard in school especially can be very important because you can go to college and afterwards come back to change everything for the better. Any problems that you see in your community you could come back and fix it for the better. Hard work truly does pay off in the end.

Dear third grade student,
As a high school student/friend, my role in the world is to experience things that I love in the world, and be a role model for my little sister, (who’s in 6th grade at the moment). I’ve experienced elementary school, middle school, and high school, but I am now a senior. A third grader should listen to my advice because I’ve basically done it all; I’ve been in your shoes once. My advice could help with worries you have about what role you have in this world, it could also help you enjoy education. I also hope to leave a mark on your life as well as help you succeed in the future. My hope is for you to get though grade school, elementary – college. I want you to accomplish your personal goals, and goals that will help you succeed, such as self-discipline, good grades, and graduating school. I hope each and every single one of you bugs have self-love, respectfulness, courage in your lives, and are brave enough to show the world who you really are. I would like for you to grow up in a world of happiness, being happy with yourself, and being surrounded by people who actually care about your well-being. I would like to give you the following advice, school, friends, being yourself. I would like for you to know that school is important, paying attention now, asking questions, and fully understanding what you’re learning will help you in middle school, high school, and college. I wish someone had told me not to pay attention to people who are mean, that sometimes friends aren’t really your friends, to stay who you are, don’t change your interests, clothing, style, music because of another person. Please remember your education and happiness come first. Don’t be mean, or talk about anyone, you never know what another person is going through at home. Lastly stay away from boyfriends and girlfriends! Ewwww cooties!
Dear Third Grader,
As a high school student/friend I have once been a third grader. It’s pretty scary growing up and becoming a junior in high school. I want to say I made it through all those years. I overcame many obstacles that I used to fear when I was your age. I went through most of the things you might be going through like focusing in school and maybe even things like peer pressure or bullying.
My hope for you is that you will overcome your obstacles. I want you to finish school and help create a better world. I want you to accomplish everything you want to. I hope you will be the best person that you can. I also hope you will lead a successful life and above everything, I hope you will follow your dreams. All I got to say is never give up on anything you want to do. Try your very best and become an educated individual. Don’t change because people tell you to or make fun of you. Stay true to yourself and always respect and love yourself. Don’t think bad thoughts or stuff about yourself. Please remember that you can become the person you envision. People will try to make you do things that are bad and that could hurt you. Try to avoid being around the people that pull you down or try to prevent you from enjoying and accomplishing your life that you want. I also want you to remember that you should try your best, don’t procrastinate or give up on things. I want you to also remember that your education is a vital part of life and being successful.

Dear Third Grader,
As a high school student, I have been in your shoes, you’re in 3rd grade and I’m in 11th. From what I can tell you, school will get harder but it’s up to you to make it easy. My hope for you is that you can build yourself a future. You might not know this but the more knowledge you get, the more opportunities become available. If you want to become an astronaut, you need to be well educated in order to do it. School is like an Xbox controller and the Xbox is what you want to do with your life. Without the controller, you can’t play the Xbox. You must gather more knowledge so you can do what you really want to. Remember that there is nothing that you can’t learn. Focus on school is my advice to you, I didn’t realize how important school was until 6th grade! I wish I had known sooner because I missed out on some great things due to not caring about school. Middle and high school are fun, but the work is tough. It will pay off in the long run. At Shiprock High School they have a sport called E-Sports. It is a sport where you play video games, it’s super cool. Most importantly, your friends and the people you hang around with is one of the best experiences. But be wise about who you choose to hangout with because hanging out with a bad group will only slow you down in your attempt to do what you want to do. Please remember that education is key, sure it’s okay to have fun in school but don’t let it get out of hand. The world is a tough place and it won’t get better, but it is up to you to educate yourself so you are prepared for the world later in your precious life. I can understand that you might not be coming from a good family or times are tough. In order to escape that, school is your key, your controller, the very future of what lies ahead in your life.
Dear third Grade,
Hi, as an 11th grader in high school. My role in this world is to make it a better place for you and me having been around the world almost 17 years. Most of the year spent in school learning. I have acquired many skills to help me out in the world. Some of the skills are listening skills and working together. These will help out me and you in the World. Being a student who also works, I know the things to do and not to do.
My hope for you is to strive for the best you can be. Do your best in classes, be nice to others, and to listen to your parents and teachers. In your life I hope that you will not have to struggle with schoolwork. The world I hope you guys will grow up in would be better than now. I hope it will be wonderful and kind to you guys so you can do your best.
I would like to give you the following advice in high school. It’s not that scary because you have your friends and your parents and teachers to help you. Be prepared to have fun with all the events that you will have during high school. Just get involved with them. A job during school is hard if you want one because I worked at a place where they worked me 4 days late. So, I would not have a good sleep. I was getting tired in class and did not have time to finish work that was due for classes. A job can wait until you're done with school.
Please remember to have fun and to stay focused. School is somewhere to have fun. The other reminder is to stay on your goal and finish high school and go to college.
Dear Third Grader,
As a high school student, everyone has a role that they choose. For me, my role is to be a friend, a daughter, a student, and a role model. When you get older you gain new experiences both good and bad, but mostly good. I experienced many hardships which I conquered. Also gaining new experiences about life. Third grader, listen to me. I’ve experienced almost anything. I’ll be the guide to your future. My hope for you is to have a great life without problems. I hope you accomplish your hopes and dreams. I hope you have a great life and experience the good things in life. I hope your world consist of beauty and peace. I would like to give you the following advice: do good in school and make good life choices. I would like you to know that you’re not alone and everyone cares about you, but also make good life choices. I wish someone was there to tell me it’s okay, you’re not alone and it’s okay to be different. Also, be yourself and don’t change yourself for anybody’s expectation. Please remember it’s okay to be different. I warn you that hard challenges will be coming your way. Instead of avoiding the problem, battle through. My final message is I hope you’ll be happier and inspired by my letter.
Dear Third Grader,
As a sophomore in high school, my role in the world is to finish high school and find a job. Experience I’ve attained throughout my 15 years of living was lots of knowledge about school. Listening to my advice will help you in life and school. My hope for you in life is to accomplish many goals such as finishing school and going to college to get a great job that pays well. I hope for you to have fun in your life and don’t forget the people in your life that support you, like your trustworthy friends and family. The world I imagine you to grow up in is a world where all hopes and dreams are achievable. I would like to give you the following advice about life in the future. School is most important for a great life and a career. Always go to school, never miss days and always turn in your work on time. What I wish someone told me about high school is to always be organized about work and especially time. Please remember that things come and go but always be independent and do things for your self and no one else. Most of all people will always try to put you down, just forget about them and move on. Always avoid people who discourage or distract you from your own goals.
Sincerely, Matthias Ayze

Dear third grader,
As a high school student, we are faced with many challenges. Our challenges expand from peer pressure to the overload of academic assignments, but I’ve been able to learn that these obstacles are what strengthens us to battle through all other challenges thrown our way.
My hope for you is to be able to live fully in every second given to you because as I grew up my parents always told me to focus on school. Although my parents may have motivated me to become a strong academic leader, they forgot to inform me that living a successful life is not based on my knowledge, but more towards JOY.
I would like to give you the following advice of being your own individual because being someone else won’t allow you to see the beautiful potential within you. Once you begin to value yourself then nothing or no one can hold you back from your greatness.
Please remember to stay away from bad influences. Surround yourself with people who put a smile on your face. A person’s attitude can be contagious, so if you hang out with someone who always brings you down then a negative energy can come within you. This will cause you to feel bad about yourself and can hurt you.
Sincerely, LaToya Litzin
Dear third grade students,
As a high school student, close to finishing, I have learned a lot about school. Not just from the classes I have taken, but I have learned how to make it easy. Most of the time as you get older, life gets a little more complicated, because you understand the truth in things better. I am going to be honest sometimes it gets stressful, but if you take my advice it can really help guide you to making things simple. My hope for you is not only to take my advice but to do so much more with your life as well. Like finish school, going to college, getting a well-paying job, or archive whatever your own dream/goal is, maybe even go down in history or save the world. This is what school is for, to prepare you for the next step and put you on the right track to success, you just have to want it and stay on it. I would like to give you the following advice: Do not make it hard for yourself, make it easy and fun. Classes get hard but if you turn in your work on time or earlier, it will make it easy. Staying organized is also a huge help, it will help you find your assignment or materials much easier. Last but not last make a routine or use a planner it helps you stay on task and focused, to get what you need done. These all make life in general less stressful. Please remember that it is all worth it in the end, all you have to do is keep trying. It does not matter if your good or bad at something, just keep going and aim high.
Sincerely, Elora John
